TITLE: Staff Accountant

PAY RANGE: $22.34 – $31.27 Per Hour
180 Days Probationary Period
WORK HOURS: 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant Finance Director
GENERAL SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Staff Accountant works closely with the Assistant Finance Director to support the fiscal operations of the Health Department, including purchasing, payroll and grant management.
PERTAINING TO GRANTS AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT DUTIES:
- Assists in the preparation of grant budget matters;
- Prepares reports as needed to support grant expenditures and reporting requirements;
- Assists in the preparation of annual grant revenue and expense reports;
- Monitors and provides regular updates regarding budget and grant status;
- Reviews and assists in adjusting grant budgets as required;
- Assists in the preparation of and review of grant applications and related documentation;
- Prepares and submits required grant reports and updates regarding grant budget status;
- Advises Health Commissioner, Finance Director, Assistant Finance Director and Program Directors regarding current grant matters, including revenue, expenditures and availability of grants;
- Maintains records required for grant and fiscal documentation;
- Completes accurate and up-to-date billing records and other expenses, such as mileage and records of time;
- Reviews information and sources regarding available grant sources and makes recommendations regarding grant and program needs;
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Business Administration – preferably with a major in Accounting.
- Must have strong organizational skills, strong analytical thinking abilities, work independently, have the ability to multi-task, and be able to meet deadlines.
- Experience working in federally qualified health center strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of and adherence to GAAP.
- Must be proficient in the use of computer using Microsoft Excel, Word, accounting software, and email.
- Must successfully pass background check.
- Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to provide proof of automobile insurance.
- COVID-19 vaccination or eligibility for medical or religious exemption required.
- NOTE: An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position.
