Public Health Intern (POPULATION HEALTH)

 

DESCRIPTION

Lorain County Public Health is seeking a Public Health Intern in the Population Health Division. Under the direct supervision of the Population Health Director and Supervisor, is responsible for fieldwork in one or more health education programs; performs other related duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  1. Conduct evaluation activities for the Population Health Division, such as data collection, analysis, focus groups, environmental scans, and surveying.
  2. Work with residents, community partner organizations, and help facilitate meetings.
  3. Offer support at various community events.
  4. Assist with communication and public information duties by preparing and maintaining newsletters, media releases, social media/website posts, and educational materials.
  5. Present to the health department staff, at the end of the internship, on work conducted, experiences, and other highlights.
  6. Ability to interact effectively with partnering individuals and agencies in the community at large.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

 

MAJOR WORK CHARACTERISTICS

Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Knowledge of health education methods, public health, marketing, social media. Ability to follow instructions; work with the public; define problems; collect and analyze data; communicate in written and oral form; prepare concise and accurate reports, work with many variables and determine specific actions.

 

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS  

Requires travel; some early morning, evening, and weekend assignments may be required.

 

MINIMUM CLASS REQUIREMENT (including license, if any.)

High school diploma or equivalent; must possess valid Ohio driver’s license; must possess current state minimum automobile liability coverage.

 

Applicants must be under the age of 21 and may not turn 21 before March 2026, as required by the grant.

 

SALARY: $15.00/hour
