Breastfeeding Peer Helper

Hours: Part-time, between 8 am - 4:30 pm M – F (24/hours/per week)
Starting Salary: $10.48/hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School diploma and breastfed an infant for a minimum of six months
- Current valid Ohio driver’s license & access to a motor vehicle
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current WIC clinic experience
- Bilingual in Spanish
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assists the WIC Dietitians/Lactation Consultants:
- in providing breastfeeding support and information to pregnant and breastfeeding women through phone contacts, mailings, clinic visits, and occasional home visits
- with group classes
- in data collection for evaluation purposes
- Obtains and completes accurate documentation on each client
- Refers clients to Dietician/Lactation Consultant when appropriate; Serves as a resource person to WIC staff
- In conjunction with the WIC Health Professional/Breastfeeding Consultant, conducts a breastfeeding support meeting
- Manages or assists in the management of a breastfeeding resource library; Maintains and displays breastfeeding material in clinic waiting room
- Provides input in the development of educational materials
- Maintains equipment and supplies necessary to perform daily activities
- May be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours
