Morrow County Health District
The Morrow County Health District is seeking a Health Commissioner for the agency. This person will serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Health District and Secretary of the Board of Health. Assures that all orders of the Board and requirements of the State Department of Health are carried out by the agency. Makes recommendations to the Board for programs, policies, funding, staffing, and compensation to carry out the Mission of the Agency including compensation. Assures that all agency programs are in compliance with Ohio laws and regulations. This is a Full time, Exempt position with minimum 40 hours per week.
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Planning: Guides the agency in the development of proactive and progressive public health policy; recommends to the Board programs to be conducted and eliminated; seeks funding including grants;
- Organizing: Directs health district management in budgeting, fee schedule development, community education activities, special community health initiatives, public awareness activities, disease investigation and control, disease and emergency response, personnel development, operational policy development, facility planning and support and quality improvement.
- Directing/Leading: Directs staff in emergency and disaster response activities. Assists in implementation of agency response plans; supervises and directs activities of professional and clerical staff; participates on selected state and national committees to advocate for appropriate public health policy and promote professional development.
- Controlling: Assures Quality Improvement planning and CQI activities for implementation in the agency; prepares detailed complex reports and policy papers; prepares necessary project activity reports, compiles and assesses statistics, makes recommendations as needed and maintains necessary records.
Qualifications: (ORC: 3709.11) Minimum must hold valid license as either a physician, dentist, veterinarian, podiatrist, or a chiropractor, OR hold a master’s degree in public health or in a health related field as determined by the members of the board of health (PhD, MSW, MHA, or MSN).
