Fiscal Officer

Union County Health Department

Full-Time, Classified, Salaried, Exempt. 40.00 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The pay range for this position is $56,354 - $81,390 per year, based on experience.

Plan, direct, coordinate, evaluate, and monitor multifaceted fiscal operations for the agency. Develop and implement fiscal plans, controls, and guidelines; monitor accounting activities, fiscal progress of projects, and determine appropriate action; and develop, prepare, oversee the preparation and maintenance of various fiscal reports, records, analyses, and documentation; and assist in developing fiscal goals and objectives for the agency. For the Administration division, develop goals, objectives, and infrastructures; develop, oversee, and manage the division budget; maintain statistics of divisional program activities; and prepare reports for the Health Commissioner and/or the Board of Health. Manage the Deputy Director of Administration and Fiscal Assistant positions. Assign and delegate job functions and accountabilities; complete performance evaluations; handle disciplinary actions; resolve employee complaints; oversee employee training and professional development; and approve time off.

Ideal candidate possesses exemplary leadership skills including integrity, empathy, tact, diplomacy, and flexibility; strong supervisory skills; has a passion to lead; and ability to work effectively with staff. Ability to make clear decisions; actively motivate a team; find creative approaches to logistical and programmatic challenges; and work on both a large and small scale essential. Must be detail oriented, organized, possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills, and strong customer service skills. A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, budgeting, finance or related field and two (2) years of experience in accounting, auditing, public sector accounting, medical billing, or other related field; or any combination of equivalent education, training, and/or experience is required. Previous experience in a supervisory role and a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience/training preferred.
