2 Sanitarian/SIT (Sewage Program & Food Program)

Holmes County General Health District is hiring 2 full-time Sanitarians or Sanitarians-in Training

Full-time (1.0 FTE)  Environmental Health Sanitarian/Sanitarian-in-Training (Sewage Program)

Under the general supervision of the Environmental Health Director, the Environmental Health Sanitarian/Sanitarian-in-Training will function as part of the Environmental Health (EH) team.  The Sanitarian/Sanitarian-in-Training will be responsible for independently and effectively conducting inspections and providing education and training as a strategy to achieve compliance of regulated entities pertinent to environmental health codes and healthy practices.  The enforcement of codes will be done consistently across settings and respectfully across populations.

Primary duties will include: 

Duties may also include the inspection and enforcement of: food service operations and retail food establishments; private water systems; public swimming pools and spas; campgrounds; animal biting incidents; and other environmental health programs as assigned by the Environmental Health Director.

Qualified candidates must possess: a Bachelor's degree in environmental health, biology, or other science-related field of study; a certificate of registration as a Sanitarian or Sanitarian-in-Training issued by the director of the Ohio Department of Health; a valid Ohio driver's license; and proof of insurance. 

The successful candidate must:  be highly motivated; able to effectively communicate orally and in writing; able to function independently; and have a working knowledge of basic computer skills.  The successful candidate must also possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and be insurable.

Duties may also include the inspection and enforcement of: residential and small flow on-site sewage treatment systems; private water systems; animal biting incidents; body art facilities; and other environmental health programs as assigned by the Environmental Health Director.
